Somerset
Contract Bridge Association (SCBA) is the contact point for all matters
relating to the game of Contract bridge in the County of Somerset. We are
affiliated to the English Bridge Union (EBU) and our aim
is to
promote Duplicate Contract Bridge in the County of Somerset, and in the
areas
of North Somerset and North East Somerset, and to encourage interclub,
inter-county
and national competitions.
We
seek to employ the funds of the SCBA in the best interests of the game of
Duplicate
Contract Bridge, having regard to the fact that the SCBA is a non-profit
making
body.
The
committee, who are all non-paid volunteers, organise the various County
Duplicate Bridge events of which the Premier event is the West of England
Congress normally held in October. This friendly, well organised event has
grown over the years and many of the Green Pointed events are quickly
over-subscribed. (So book early!)
The
SCBA organises and runs a wide range of competitions for its members. Full
details of our competitions during the 2010 /2011 season can be found in
the County Handbook and on this website.
I
appreciate some of our members will have no interest in playing duplicate
bridge outside of their own club. Some may like to compete but only
against players of a similar standard. Over the last few years we have
introduced competitions, which allow you to do just that. Contact the
Tournament Secretary to find out more.
It
would be lovely to see new faces at some of our competitions next season.
So if you are a new member why not pledge to try out at least one of them.
